5 Ways to Give during LENT at ST. MARK

Posted on January 28, 2019

  1. Lenten Cross of Mercy – LENT is a special time in our spiritual journey and we encourage you to actively participate in the Lenten Cross of Mercy in support of the mission of the House of Mercy in Manassas to provide food and clothing for those in need. The Lenten Cross, found in the Narthex, provides us with an opportunity to take part in prayer and almsgiving during LENT. It contains a variety of tags, for either spiritual or corporal works of mercy. Please select one or more tags and help make Christ’s mercy visible for those in need in our community. Return material items to the foot of the cross and monetary items to the office or mail them to the House of Mercy in the envelopes found at the foot of the cross. The house of Mercy thanks you for your donations that make it possible to share God’s love. May God bless you abundantly!
  2. HELP FIGHT HUNGER IN NORTHERN VIRGINIA – The Empty Bowls Fundraiser to benefit hunger relief in Northern Virginia will be hosted by the Giving Circle of HOPE on Friday, April 26 from 5:30 to 8:00pm at Floris United Methodist Church, 13600 Frying Pan Road Herndon, Virginia 20171.  Local potter artisans are donating 500+ bowls that are individually designed and created just for the Empty Bowls fundraisers. All proceeds will be donated to Food for Others, the largest distributor of free food in Northern Virginia.   All are welcome to come together around a meal of soup, bread and dessert. For a donation of $25.00 for adults ($30 at the door) and $15.00 for children under 12, each guest selects a bowl to take with them as a reminder that there are always Empty Bowls in the world.  Ticket information is available at the information desk in the Narthex or you may order on line at www.givingcircleofHOPE.org
